ERFURT emerges through a process of layering, reimagining the aesthetic and cultural perception of wood chip wallpaper. Named after the birthplace of this widely despised material, the series reflects on its history while embracing the Bauhaus spirit it once embodied.

As a repurposed midcentury side table, the piece recalls the era in which these wall coverings flourished, while its bold, postmodern form and delicate feet challenge conventional proportions and stylistic expectations. Composed of salvaged furniture fragments, geometric body parts, wood pulp, and wood chip, it is meticulously finished with lime washes and linseed oil, revealing a nuanced interplay of texture, history, and reinvention.

This series engages with evolving design narratives, confronting material biases and uncovering the hidden potential of what has long been dismissed.
